Store xvan and escape.dat in the same folder.

To start the game:

1. From the File Explorer
  Navigate to the folder with the files.
  Double-click the xvan icon.
  Xvan will prompt for the story name, which is escape.dat
  
2. From a CMD window
  cd to the directory with the files.
  type "xvan -i escape.dat" (without the quotes)
  Or
  type "xvan"
  Xvan will prompt for the story name, which is escape.dat.
